It's all over

I ot admitted to the hospital on Monday March 3o, 2009. My amniotic fluid around baby boy was low and when they checked I was 3-4 cm dilated. I was in L&D overnight for close monitoring and then transferred to the antepartum floor for the duration of my pregnancy.

We made it to 24 weeks on Thursday and had a small celebration.

Unfortunately on Friday morning around 4 am I started feeling what I thought were contractions or bladder spams. The monitors and nurses could not pick up any contractions and the babies heartbeats were good. At 7:15 am I noticed I was bleeding. When the resident checked I was 8-9 cm dilated.

I was rushed to the OR for an emergency csection. Phoebe Kate de Souza was born at 8:13 am weighing 1 pound 1 oz, 10.5 inches long. Evan Jude de Souza was born at 8:14 am weighing 1 pound 7.5 oz, 11.5 inches long. Phoebe had APGAR's of 6 and 7 and Evan had APGARS of 7 and 8.

They were both rushed to the NICU and were stabilized. Unfortunately, Evan developed a Grade IV brain bleed by Sunday evening and we decided to move to comfort measures. We got to hold our fresh little fighter with the long, long eyelashes just like his daddy and say our goodbyes. Evan Jude passed away at 6:59 pm on Sunday April 5, 2009 in his daddy's arms.

The next day, Phoebe Kate was able to suck a pacifier and take a few drops of breastmilk. Sadly Phoebe had also developed a Grade IV brain bleed by Monday evening and we decided to move to comfort measures again. So we got to hold our little feisty princess, she was so small and sweet and we had to say goodbye. Phoebe Kate passed away at 5:13 pm on Monday April 6, 2009 in her mommy's arms.

They brought us so much joy and happiness in their short lives and will never be forgotten.

We love you our sweet babies and are glad you are at peace.

Love
Mommy and Daddy
